TSM – Toulouse School of Management, part of Toulouse Capitole University, continues to strengthen its transformation around Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility (SD&SR) through an ambitious and collaborative strategy.
Built around four key pillars : governance, teaching, research and campus life, this approach is embedded across every aspect of the School's activities. Academic staff, professional services staff and students all play an active role in bringing the challenges of the ecological and societal transition into everyday practice.
Programmes designed for tomorrow's challenges
Following the introduction of a common first-year undergraduate module last year, TSM expanded its SD&SR curriculum in the second year of the Bachelor's degree with the module Responsible and Engaged Management: Major Organisational and Managerial Challenges, introduced during the 2025–2026 academic year.
The module is compulsory for all second-year undergraduate students, including those enrolled on the Law and Management and Information Technology and Management pathways.
It is complemented by a practical civic engagement programme through which students undertake community projects with charities and civil society organisations, including blood donation services, Restos du Cœur, Emmaüs and local sports clubs, representing almost 7,000 hours of voluntary engagement in total.
This initiative will continue in the 2026–2027 academic year with the introduction of a new common third-year undergraduate module entitled Responsible and Engaged Management: Transforming Organisations for Sustainability, developed in consultation with programme directors across the School.
In addition, TSM continues to offer several specialist programmes focusing on environmental and social responsibility, including the Master's in Management of Corporate Social Responsibility, the second-year Master's in Law and management of Corporate Social Responsibility, the third-year Bachelor's in Quality, Safety and Environment, and the Master's in Quality, Safety and Environment, all of which prepare future professionals to lead the sustainability transition.
Applications for the third-year Bachelor's programme and the second year of the Master's programme are open until 8 July 2026.
Research driving the ecological and sustainability transition
TSM-Research places sustainability and the ecological transition at the heart of its research strategy.
Several major initiatives throughout the year reflect this commitment, including:
- the creation of a cross-cutting research theme spanning all research groups, entitled Sustainable Organisations and Society,
- the organisation of the 20th RIODD Conference in October 2025, coordinated by Assâad El Akremi, bringing together researchers and experts to discuss organisational responsibility,
- the second Workshop on Inclusive and Sustainable Employment, organised by the Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour research group,
- Sandra Laporte's contribution to organising the ENGAGE.EU Think Tank AI and Society, hosted by Toulouse Capitole University,
- the submission of the TREND(S) (Transformative Retailing Ecosystems & New Market Dynamics for Sustainability) Industrial Chair project, led by Isabelle Collin-Lachaud and submitted to the French National Research Agency (ANR).
Through these initiatives, TSM-Research reaffirms its ambition to generate knowledge that supports more responsible management and contributes to addressing the major societal transitions of our time.
A community engaged in everyday action
The ecological transition is also reflected in everyday life on campus. Led by the Socio-Ecological Transition Committee, this commitment takes shape through a wide range of practical initiatives throughout the year.
These include participatory workshops such as the Climate Fresk, Digital Fresk and Biodiversity Fresk, alongside three dedicated awareness weeks: the European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW), the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) and the Student Week for Ecology and Solidarity (SEES).
This commitment also led to the organisation of a Digital Clean Up campaign, during which more than 830,000 files, emails and applications were deleted, representing an estimated saving of 1.6 tonnes of CO₂.
TSM teams continue to integrate sustainable development and social responsibility into their daily work through a wide range of service-led projects. These include the digitalisation of administrative processes, reducing paper consumption, donating IT equipment, organising a staff seminar dedicated to mental health at work, and raising awareness of sustainable mobility and the carbon footprint of student travel.
These projects, alongside many other initiatives, demonstrate TSM's determination to embed sustainability into its everyday practices and to foster lasting change across the School.
Students are equally committed through Ecolibris, TSM's sustainability-focused student association, which enjoyed an exceptionally active first year.
During the academic year, its members organised or contributed to more than ten awareness-raising initiatives focused on sustainability and social solidarity. Highlights included a Clean Walk organised in partnership with Toulouse Zéro Plastique and a charity clothes swap that gave more than 10 kilograms of clothing a second life.
The association also played an active role during TSM's 70th anniversary celebrations by facilitating a Climate Fresk workshop and a Gratitude Wall, as well as organising several awareness activities during the European Week for Waste Reduction.
Through these initiatives, TSM reaffirms its commitment to educating professionals who are equipped to support the transformation of organisations and society by combining performance, responsibility and engagement in the pursuit of sustainable management.
