The Master of Science is the first year of the Toulouse School of Management Doctoral Programme which is one of only 4 doctoral programmes entirely dedicated to management in France. It offers the excellence training needed for international and French university graduates interested in pursuing a career in research both as academic or practitioner:

  • Rigorous selection process
  • Close supervision by internationally recognized high-level research professors who publish in the best journals of
  • management and economics
  • Full immersion in the lab research activities
  • Exchanges with the world’s best universities
  • Research presentations in the leading international conferences

The Master of Science aims to train a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative researchers, able to face current and future challenges. To do so it combines the best of practice, theory, qualitative & quantitative tools and reality-based education creatively. Our MSc also offers high quality teaching and a truly multicultural work environment with students coming from all over the world: students from 29 nationalities are enrolled in the Doctoral Programme.

As an early-stage researcher this programme will immerse you in all aspects of academic life. You will attend academic conferences, make presentations, organise seminars, and contribute to management and academic decisions.

We deliberately keep the doctoral programme small to allow you to work closely with your supervisor, develop interaction with other faculty who will be happy to act as sounding boards, and gain teaching experience.

We are looking for talented applicants who are enthusiastic about research, genuinely intellectually curious, like reading and debating, want to be able to answer new questions and love to travel and meet new people. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to take a closer look at our Doctoral Programme, and we look forward to receiving your application.

Continuation of studies

In line with top European and American universities, research at Toulouse School of Management begins with two years of training. Students who successfully complete the first year of the programme are awarded with a Master of Science (M2). If they have written a master thesis during their Master of Science they can apply to the MPhil in Management, in order to follow the second year of Doctoral Programme. The later years of the doctoral programme are dedicated to original research and the creation of a dissertation.

Students have the opportunity to take a gap year before entering in the MSc. They can also do a 4-month internship during the MSc.

Our ambition is to attract the best students in the world. Therefore, we provide financial and material support for all our future Ph.D. candidates:

  • Starting in year 2 each new Ph.D. candidate receives a cost-of-living scholarship and assistantship guarantee of € 21,000 per year, guaranteed for three years.

To prepare your application, you should contact professors who are in the department in which you did the major part of your study and who are well acquainted with your work to ask if they will accept to be a reference for you.

If you have had a year or more of full-time experience in research since graduation, one of the two letters may be a recommendation from a supervisor.

EasyRecrue pre-recorded video interview

Pre-recorded individual interviews via EasyRecrue are mandatory to assess your motivation and engagement, and to control your English level.

The research classes in the Master of Science in Accounting are the best way to learn the theories and methodologies you need to conduct research for your doctorate. I like to think of the Master's thesis as a warm-up exercise for your dissertation: you start with an idea, then whittle it down to your thesis proposal.
